OBD Errors @_@

P0090 Fuel pressure control solenoid: valve system Open circuit or short-circuit in solenoid valve-related circuit ON
P0011 Variable valve timing system Abnormal oil passage in variable: valve timing system
P0243 Abnormal waste gate system Abnormal in waste gate solenoid valve

got all them and P0000 in my car...seems to drive ok

P0090:
- check for fouled plugs?
- bad coilpacks?
- bad injectors?
- fpr?

P0011:
http://www.evoscan.com/manuals/ColtRalliart/065_TIM_PDF/GR00004200-13B.pdf
http://asx.2de.ru/13/html/M113176710014900ENG.HTM

My Doctor says:
p0900 normal. Dummy resistor in there due to not using the pressure solenoid. (3 port remember)
p0011 normal. Stock ecu is no longer controlling the mivec solenoid thus freaks out when all of the sudden it cant change the solenoid timing
p0243 same again. Stock ecu's not controlling boost anymore.

Things to check are obdpro adaptors and power feed and/or serial cable into the adapt. Surprised it didnt show up more codes actually. But its all good dude. Thats what the obdpro's there for

YR-Advance

A specialty shop from Japan for Mitsubishi parts only. They were one of the first shops to start modifying their RColt.
It can be seen in some of the Best Motoring clips.
I have used their boost solenoid, it adds .3bar and I now have their special intake box. I wish money wasn't an object otherwise I would love to pick up all of the gear

In relation to Best Motoring stuff:
In 2008, the Japanese rally set up a new class JN1.5 for 2WD, 1,401cc - 1,500cc cars. 5 COLT 1.5C took part (out of 8 cars) and took podium finish for all 6 rounds (with another 4 rounds coming).

Version-R win at the Best Motoring Aug 08 Hot Hatch Battle.

Homebrew XR6T FMIC on a Z27ag

After seeing JGirl post on the RColt forums on how to plumb a XR6 cooler on a Colt I was super keen.
Mainly because it was black, easy to do and didn't require any cutting (well nothing major).
http://www.rcolt.com/showthread.php?3070-J-Girl-s-intercooler-set-up

Bought myself 0.5M of 5ply Silicone pipe that is used on trucks (2.25").
Stupid mistake was picking 2.25" as my stock piping size is 2"
Would of been smarter to stick with 2" and use silicone reduces on the FMIC from 2.25" to 2"

I also got about 0.5M of 2.25" straight pipe, 1x45degree bend and i think 5x90degree bends.
Mate help me weld them up with a bead on the pipes to stop any hose clamps coming off

I aimed to connect it to the stock 90degree bend in the engine bay.

The new ground cable i have for the horn.

You can see where i have relocated the horn to.

You can kind of make out the top pipe running along top of the FMIC.
Runs into a 45degree bend then into a sharp 90degree

The stock rubber pipe that use to run to the stock FMIC was trimmed back to allow for a 1.75" to a 2.25" (if i remember correctly OR it was a 2" to a 2.25" enlarger)

I used zip ties to hold it for over a year...No problems.

I have now added some self tappers in the bottom of the FMIC and one in the top.

I had to angle grind the stock horn bracket off the crash bar. And trim some bumper off.

If i had to do it again i would make the bottom FMIC inlet straight. Cut off the weird 45 degree inlet and get someone to re-weld it as a straight pipe. Would allow for a easier install without bumper trimming.

http://blog.autospeed.com/2007/11/27/a-bargain-to-be-had/

Right now – and probably for the next few years – there’s a helluva bargain to be had.

I’ve bought one to put on the shelf and I highly recommend that anyone else into useable road performance does so too. And what should you buy? At least one of all those BA and BF Ford Falcon XR6 intercoolers that are being flogged-off on Australian eBay, commonly priced from about fifty bucks.

Yes, from fifty bucks.

Now maybe the people who want far in excess of the Falcon’s standard 240kW have an urgent need to replace these Garret-cored, bar-and-plate intercoolers with something far better, but for people who are happy to drive a car with performance not limited by wheelspin, these intercoolers look perfect. Being an all-welded design, they’d also be dead-easy to jacket with aluminium sheet, making them water/air intercooler cores. At a core size of 370 x 175 x 60mm, they’re relatively compact but have well-shaped alloy end tanks. For people wondering overall size, they’re 620 x 270 X 60 cm to the extremities. Inlet/outlet tube size is 58mm (hose ID).

Even if you consider the time and labour to fold up new end tanks from sheet aluminium and pay someone to TIG them to the original core, you’re still talking an excellent intercooler for the price.

The one I bought came with all its hoses and clamps – also very useful when you’re plumbing any intercooler into place.

Without having done any flow or temperature testing, but looking at the core and assessing the original application, I’d be happy running at least 200kW through them – more, eg 250kW – with a good water spray.

Adaptronic
----------------------
Matt noticed a leaky pipe hence the manifold came off

For those who don't know about the serial ports:
One serial port is for connecting either a laptop or a vidigauge
The other serial port is for connecting a wideband O2 sensor or an OBD-Pro.

Also noticed a crack growing in the manifold @_@ for the 2nd time

(The OBD-Pro is needed with the Colt to clear 'pending' error codes once per ECU startup before they become actual error codes and bring on the check engine light.)

So regardless of whether you have a vidigauge, you can't connect a wideband O2 sensor via serial port unless you unplug the OBD-Pro.

For dyno tuning that doesn't matter. Just turn on the car with the OBD-Pro plugged in. Then after a few seconds plug in the wideband O2 sensor instead.
Then change 'second serial port' setting in WARI to select your wideband sensor. Then do your dyno tuning. Then change the setting back when you're finished.

But if you want to run a wideband O2 sensor all the time, it would need to be connected via analog input instead of serial. Choose your oxygen sensor from the list shown in fauxpas' post.

Paint n Clear Coat

Pull out the electric switches by 3 screws on in inside of the door skin.
It is clipped it to the door after the screw are removed.

Wet sanded my work with 1200 grit. Getting it ready for another coat of red then some clear coat

I never learn to wear protection.

NICE!

Final product. Clear coat gave it a nicer color. But i still liked the matt finish alot.

Failed attempt to repair my CF Wind :(

The two year old wing that never really sees a garage. 40degree plus Perth heat.

Aim was to wet sand it back 400>800>1200 grit.
The enamel was to thick. I got lazy @_@
Hence i stripped it back as best as i could by hand.  I have now primed it with undercoat.
Ready for a satin black finish.

Rear Speakers Fitting

Gas soldering iron. My best friend

LUCKY straight bolt in. triple DDD speakers.
Old school alpine gear from a friend

Spicing into the wires to attach my speakers.
From my test with a battery the yellow is the +ve.
I run a battery across the terminals of the speaker and see which way the cone moves.

Fuel Pump Install Z27AG - Walbro GSS342 - Tomei Type S Fuel Reg

Upgrade fuel pump to the 255lt Walbro.
Pretty sure it the one out of the evo.
You have to modify two little legs off the pump to get the cap on.
Tap it with an angle grinder and a file.

Where is the fuel pump?
Under the seats, you should be able to lift the seats up.
Enough room to get access

Remove the cover. The fuel cage thingy will need to be unbolted.
Take off all hoses. One has a pull back collar if i remember correctly. Another is a hose clamp?

Have a towel ready to grab any excess fuel. Becareful not to damage the float.

The bottom thing is the filter. You have to remove that bottom cap. the fuel filter is inside it the cage you took out of the fuel tank.
Remove the wires from the top of the fuel pump.

The fuel pump i got. Forgot to take photos after I modified it.

The parts for the fuel system upgrade on the Rcolt (Z27AG) include:
- fuel reg (type S) inc. 2x AN6 1/8NPT Fitting & 2x #8 Straight 1/8NPT Fitting
- fuel pump (Walbro GSS342 )
- EFI fuel hose (5/16", 7.9m), fuel hose clamps
- and Skyline fuel rail adapter - which i believe i am using a barb outlet 8 mm / 0.314 inch on the 1/8" female port

Minkara Blog Entry http://minkara.carview.co.jp/userid/257849/car/151807/721300/note.aspx

Can kind of see where the fuel reg is hiding.

Info from a Sing Friend:

Q: Me - and do you know our stock fuel pressure (i believe it is 40psi). you mention 3.8bar
Answer:
When I was tuning my ride using stock turbo, I added in sard (small size) fuel regulator and brought the pressure up to 3.8bar to accomodate about 1.15 of high boosting...thats pretty much the peak fuel pressure for high boosting...
Unless you are going for tuning, my guess is you dont really have to get the regulator as yet...

Upgrading of wrx injectors and fuel pump are meant to compliment turbo upgrades, e.g. td04...
For wrx injectors, 2 types...a) 380cc (2.0L wrx) and b) 440cc (2.5L wrx)...do not go to sti injectors, way to big
As for pump, I am using the 255L walbro fuel pump...

MANUAL SPECS FOR THE RCOLT Base fuel pressure of 3km/cm2 ~ 42psi

I have recently come across another brand of fuel pump that is highly recommended and it suppose to out flow the 255 Walbro. Deatschwerks dw301
But on the evo forums they seem to be skeptical about the Deatshwerks see here
The user recommended re wiring the Walbro, stock wiring wasn't up to the task. I didn't read the whole article but i am assuming they are talking about current flow.

When I did my first dyno back in Dec 2010. Maxed out the stock turbo @210FWHP. I also upgraded the injectors. I used Bosch 525cc 3/4 US Plug Injectors. Part No HP525BH55?? They had to change some cap on it so that it fitted the stock fuel rail.
Also had to get four new injector connectors to suit.
The work was done by GTI Performance Cetnre in Bibra Lake. My car has 68k km on it. It has now done about 86k km.

Fumoto F106N 14mm-1.5

The Fumoto valve...Magic!
I think for regular oil drops you can't go passed one of these.
I do oil drops every 5000km with race days and what not. So its helping save time, saves me from putting new washes and worrying about leaks.

Also the finished product >>>> I painted last time.

The Z27AG 4G15 Mivec Colt uses a standard M14x1.5 sump plug.
This also fits:
/ Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart Version R
/ Regunamu Mitsubishi
/ Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
/ Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X
/ Mitsubishi Galant Fortis
/ Mitsubishi Galant Fortis Sportback
/ Mitsubishi Outlander
Some people choose to fit a magnetic drain plug as seen here: YR Advance Magnetic Drain Plug
